I am Kristina Petra, an artist and photographer based in Stockholm. I was born in Lithuania, but lived and worked in Iceland for about 13 years.
It was never my intention to work in wedding business, but once I photographed my first wedding for Pink Iceland in 2016 I must admit I got addicted and they’ve been my favorite company to work with since. They are true professionals, highly driven and just really kind and warm people. Every time I see a new e-mail from Pink Iceland in my mail box I know that I’ll be heading to great adventure.
During my wedding photographer’s career I’ve traveled to the most beautiful locations, experienced quite a few adventures, but the most important and fun part at my work is meeting new people. It’s an honor and privilege to participate in one of the most important days in couple’s life. They’ll show the photographs I took to their families, children, and at some point maybe even grandchildren.
Years will pass and memories of the wedding day will be always alive through the photographs. This thought always warms my heart and makes me little bit sentimental. I guess these reflections on time and memory in a way shaped my photography style. If I had to choose one word to describe it, most likely I would say “timeless”.
My favorite wedding season is autumn and autumn in Iceland is magical. The light and colors are mesmerising. Of course the weather sometimes is unpredictable, but for photography actually it’s quite a positive thing. Fog, wind and rain can make photos look much more dramatic and emotionally charged. To be honest I quite often hope for weather to get little bit gloomy during photoshoots, so Icelandic landscape would reveal its beauty and rawness. Of course there is a small chance of really stormy weather but even then the most beautiful adventures happen.
Once just minutes before ceremony the weather got really bad. Wind and rain took over, but Pink Iceland’s team was extremely creative and we moved the whole event to nearest stables. The ceremony was absolutely stunning. Horses were roaming around, participating in the whole thing. I’ve never heard so much laughter and sobbing at once.
After ceremony the skies got clear and we kept on traveling to planned locations.
I am always amazed how close to nature Reykjavik is. In 20 min. ride you can reach the most beautiful places like Kleifarvatn, Hvalfjörður and Reykjanes. If to look further my heart always goes to Snæfellsnes and of course West Fjords.
Thank you Kristina Petra for contributing to the Pink Iceland blog, we can't wait for our next Iceland Wedding Adventure together.
Xoxo the Pink Iceland Wedding planning team
